Assistant Director HUD and Community Outreach

Four Square Community Action, Inc. Serving Cherokee, Clay, Graham, and Swain Counties, NC Andrews, NC | Full-Time

Position Summary

The Assistant HUD Director and Community Outreach provides direct client services and supports the administration and compliance of HUD-funded housing programs, including rental assistance and housing stabilization services, while leading community outreach and partnership efforts. This position works closely with leadership to ensure regulatory compliance, effective service delivery, and increased community awareness of housing resources for low-income individuals and families and supervises HUD Community Outreach workers in the four counties.

 

Key Responsibilities

· Support oversight and daily operations of HUD-funded housing and rental assistance programs

· Ensure compliance with HUD regulations, documentation, monitoring, and reporting requirements

· Assist with file reviews, audits, data tracking, and grant reporting

· Coordinate outreach activities to increase awareness of housing services across the four-county area

· Develop and maintain partnerships with local governments, landlords, nonprofits, and service providers

· Represent the agency at community meetings, housing events, and public forums

· Provide support and guidance to housing program staff as assigned

· Perform related duties in support of agency housing and self-sufficiency goals

Qualifications Required:

· Bachelor’s degree in human services, public administration, housing, or related field (or equivalent experience)

· Minimum 3 years of experience with HUD-funded programs or housing related services

· Knowledge of HUD regulations and compliance standards

· Strong communication, organizational, and community engagement skills

· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally

Preferred:

​

· Experience with Community Action Agencies or nonprofit housing programs

· Supervisory or leadership experience

· Familiarity with rental assistance and housing stabilization programs in rural communities
